Peace Angel Monuments

The Peace Angels Project uses cutting-edge technologies to produce Peace Angel monuments that are made from decommissioned nuclear steel and street weapons. During a multi-step production process, Peace Angels are created that range in height from one-foot maquettes to sixty-four-foot monuments. Each custom-designed monument will stand atop a 100’ x 100’ Labyrinth that tells the unique narrative of the site on which the monument sits.

One million weapons are requested per monument through the USA Weapons Destruction Campaign (USAWDC). Sites for six-story-tall monuments are currently being evaluated in Los Angeles, New York City, Silicon Valley and Chicago. The USAWDC is ramping up its program in the first quarter of 2019 and will run concurrently with attracting funding for the monuments.

Los Angeles

The California Peace Angel at Los Angeles

The  California Peace Angel at Los Angeles is composed of melted-down weapons: landmines, cluster bomb casings, street weapons and nuclear stainless steel.  Glistening with a highly polished surface, the Peace Angel holds three children with her left arm and her right hand is held up in a symbolic gesture of protection and light.  Rising symbolically from a base that has the City of Los Angeles Seal at the Center and images of weapons, the next level has two rows of 36 life sized sculptures of Humanitarians who have done “Extreme Good” during this time in human history.

The California Peace Angel at Los Angeles will be approximately 64 feet high, comprised of: Main sculpture of 20 feet, under base of 12 feet. The Conversation steps (two) 6 feet apiece and the Reflection foundation base at 10 feet. Their bases are in proportion to the sculpture according to the Golden Ratio or Divine Mean.

The Conversation

“The Conversation” section of the base is comprised of individual sculptures of human beings who have contributed “Extreme Good” to the betterment of our world. All Humanitarians in their own field, they take a stand for peace in perpetuity, representing us into the future. They stand tall, clear and strong offering their imperfections as human beings and their grace of action.

The Labyrinth

The Labyrinth around the monument will incorporate the “The Walk of Suffering and the Walk of Achievement” that leads to peace in Los Angeles. Pertinent dates and occurrences will be etched onto a timeline to be walked on, measuring the contributions of our people in contributing to peace in Los Angeles and our world.

Gun Collection

Both the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Police Department have been greatly supportive of the California Peace Angel and have given thousands of pounds of weapons metal for the construction of the monument.  The USA Weapons Destruction Campaign builds up this effort with the partnership of Sims Metal Management and SA Recycling.

New York

The New York Peace Angel Monument

The New York Peace Angel monument is composed of melted-down weapons: landmines, cluster bomb casings, street weapons and nuclear stainless steel.  Glistening with a highly polished surface, the Peace Angel is the Renaissance Peace Angel expanded.  The original Renaissance Peace Angel was created for New York in 1995.  In the initial writing of the Peace Angels Project, this Peace Angel was created for the World Trade Center. The original 11 foot Renaissance Peace Angel, Permanent Collection of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum since 2013 was installed in 2018.

The Renaissance Peace Angel is strong.  He holds a olive branch and a book in his right hand symbolizing peace and new life with knowledge and wisdom. The left hand is extended to mankind.  He looks at us with an expression that conveys: “Do not look up to Angels to accomplish peace, but look to yourselves.”

The Renaissance Peace Angel stood at Ground Zero giving solace to all who looked upon him post 9/11. This is the larger, fuller version with wings fully extended and blown back by the wind.   He is protective and strong yet has the heart of the Renaissance reminding us all of our capacity for greatness and for good.

The New York Peace Angel will be approximately 64 feet high, comprised of: Main sculpture of 20 feet, under base of 12 feet, The Conversation steps (two) 6 feet apiece and the Reflection foundation base at 10 feet. Their bases are in proportion to the sculpture according to the Golden Ratio or Divine Mean.

The Conversation

“The Conversation” section (32 feet) of the base is comprised of individual sculptures of human beings who have contributed “Extreme Good” to the betterment of our world. All Humanitarians in their own field, they take a stand for peace in perpetuity, representing us into the future. They stand tall, clear and strong offering their imperfections as human beings and their grace of action.

The Labyrinth

The Labyrinth around the monument will incorporate a history of New York based upon both struggles and achievements in manifesting a city of leadership. Pertinent dates and occurrences will be etched onto a timeline to be walked on, measuring the contributions of our people in contributing to peace in New York and in our world.

Gun Collection

The New York Police Department have been greatly supportive of the New York Peace Angel and have given thousands of pounds of weapons metal for the construction of the initial maquette which is to be sited in front of the Joint Operations Unit at One Police Plaza.

The Peace Angels Project intends to request street weapons throughout the Great State of New York in a New York Peace Angel media campaign to request weapons for the construction of the monument and labyrinth.  Our partners Sims Metal Recycling have facilities throughout the state to receive weapons and destroy them locally. I will request from the United Nations through the Department of Disarmament weapons metal from all countries to be melted down into this monument. International and national weapons pieces may be incorporated as we progress, given by the Humanitarians represented on the Conversation base.

Nuclear ICBM Stainless Steel

The Peace Angels Project has acquired 34,000 pounds of clean nuclear stainless for the construction of the monument.

Silicon Valley

The San Francisco Bay Area is known for technology. Words have been invented in this region to create and to describe the action that has evolved humanity technologically. Computers have changed everything. Access to them has changed everything worldwide. Venture Capitalism originated the funding capacity to ignite this change. Silicon Valley is the future of the future every day.

In designing the Peace Angel monument for the San Francisco Bay Area, the globe comes to mind.

The SVSFPA monument will have as its centerpiece a transparent globe that moves with the evolution of the earth powered by solar energy. The steel is comprised of weapons: nuclear, street weapons, land mines – weapons of war. E-waste and carbon leeched from the atmosphere will be included in the production of this monument and labyrinth.

The Peace Sign is within the globe.  The core of how this transparent globe revolves at the center is the contemporary symbol of peace indicating the notion that our ability to live upon this earth is based upon our getting along with each other. The opposite of war is creation.  This monument symbolizes our potential to glean the greatest of human capacity to problem-solve and to increase our capacity to respect each other and to listen to one another. We live on an earth made transparent by our ability to communicate.
